The Gospel Appraisal

The Gospel Appraisal grew into churches. A branch stands at KNUST, in Kumasi. Another in Patasi. Others in Accra, and in other parts of Ghana.

Sons and daughters of the commission began to spread toward the ends of the earth, with the fire, and with a vision to birth churches in many countries. Pastor Kelvin has reached more than seventy-seven countries, both online and in person. It has been a tremendous move ever since.

Chapter 02

Presbyterian Boys

Legon

He came to Legon still growing — in stature, in wisdom, and in favour with God and with people. The school was Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, the one called PRESEC. It stands at Mile 9, on the green edge of Accra, just beyond the University of Ghana. The place is older than its gate. In 1938 the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast opened it at Odumase-Krobo, with sixteen boys and four teachers. In 1968 the school came to this campus. The arch is red and white. PRESEC is written across it. Trees stand on either side, and the road runs straight in.

He studied General Science. His mind was remarkable. His teachers were pleased with him, and they had reason to be. Yet the classroom was not the only room that filled. He set a fellowship up himself, and he named it The Gospel Appraisal. The numbers grew past telling. A revival broke through the school. He was raising young men to be revivalists for the last days, and many of them are out in the world now, doing the work of the ministry with a zeal that has not gone out.

Chapter 02

The Beginning

Eight years old

It began when Pastor Kelvin was eight. God placed in him a hunger for the Word that would not be satisfied, and a desire for the Holy Spirit that was close, not distant. He began to preach at that age. Children listened. Older people listened. What started in his own family walked into the classroom, and from the classroom into the streets and homes around him. Quiet hearts began to want the Lord.

Even then he was leading the young people of his school in fellowship. Tremendous power met them there. Teachers gave their lives to Christ. People were healed of asthma, and of other illnesses that had stayed for years. The dead were brought back to life. Deaths, which had been common in that school, ceased. A mighty revival broke forth, and it did not ask his age for permission.
